portamundi realises portal for employees of the city of Erlangen
The agency is currently developing the prototype of the portal on the basis of their Business Content Management System contentXXL. The city of Erlangen is working with portamundi, which is responsible for the technical realisation, and with the management consultant firm Accenture, which is responsible for the taxonomy as well as the content and the organisational demands of the Intranet. The portal for employees is an important project in the e-government programme of the city. Three years ago, portamundi already developed the Internet presence of the city of Erlangen and has maintained it since.
Via the Intranet, about 1000 employees of the city should be able to access information which is made available decentrally as well as internal forms from different departments. A central function is the "City Directory" - a directory which makes the responsibilities within the municipal authorities more transparent for all authorised users. In a second step, all relevant internal working processes of the administration will be portrayed online.

"We want to offer our colleagues a high degree of functionality right from the start. Using the out-of-the-box modules of the Business Content Management System contentXXL, we can realise this plan in the shortest time and cost-efficiently", says Joachim Punzel, project manager at the city of Erlangen.

Next to the document module, which enables filing of and finding keywords in any documents in the Intranet, other modules such as news, contact and date management, discussion forum, picture gallery as well as closed areas for different user groups are also used.
"The implementation of platform-spanning standards such as XML and web services guarantees an integration within different systems. Thus, the city of Erlangen is ready for future online co-operations with the cities of Nuremberg, Fürth, Schwabach, and Bayreuth," explains Frank Daske, Head of Development at portamundi.
